Every Home Should Have One

The Golden Bough: A Study in Magic and Religion
I'm not going to embarrass myself by trying to write something insightful about this mighty tome, for one thing I haven't read it all. I prefer to dip in and read random bits when the mood takes me or use it as a reference for deciphering the occult activities that I occasionally encounter.

Like when my neighbours nailed a dead crow to my front door. Apparently it's not a good sign. I may well have been expelled from the circle.

But, yes, every home should have one, it's essential reading.

  1. Essential indeed, although I now wish my copy had that cover instead of the 'new age' nightmare that I ended up buying some years ago.

    Regarding the crow:

"In general, crows are not likes in British superstition, and although in certain limited circumstances they can be seen as lucky, in the vast majority of reports they are treated with suspicion.
They were particularly feared if they seemed to be focusing their attention on a particular person or building, and this applied both to single birds and groups.

Copied that from The Penguin Guide to the Superstitions of Britain and Ireland - by Steve Roud , which is 546 pages of pure delight I assure you.
